Courtyard garden

Cute courtyard

garden in Terenure, Dublin

Sometimes good things come in small sizes, and we were most pleased to have the opportunity to redesign this small garden for our clients in Terenure.

The total size of this small courtyard garden to the rear of a contemporary red-brick terrace house measures around 35m2 and is L-shaped.

The existing garden consisted of a simple patio shape with some grass areas and planting around the perimeter. The brief was to remove the grass to create a hard landscape scheme including paving and gravel surfaces. We also added a small water feature for interest that combined with a raised planter area. The design and finishes required careful blending of complementary materials and the selection of a small range of plants with seasonal interest. The design was to be classical in style hence the inclusion of box hedging but the layout was modern in thought and in terms of its functionality.

“We are delighted with the way our garden has turned out; we have a sweet, neatly organised space in which we can enjoy al fresco dining whilst watching the seasons go by through the changes in the planting.  Tim’s design and build team were at all times professional and we felt they were keen to deliver a highly polished scheme; they did and we are very pleased with the end result!”
