Naturalised bulbs

bulb plantign tips, planting design, tim austen, garden design

Often the best effects are created where bulbs are planted in a natural way under a tree. The bulbs are scattered randomly and planted where they land. The surrounding grass is usually left as meadow or rough cut grass as it cannot be cut back until the foliage of the bulbs has receded in the summer. This photo was taken in the spring in Mount Usher gardens in Co. Wicklow.
